Sports Medicine Fellowship Program
Mountainside Hospital Department of Family Medicine offers a one year fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine.
This one-year fellowship program is designed to provide the clinical and academic training to begin a career in sports medicine including clinical experience, didactic lectures, faculty development workshops, and the development of research skills.
The primary care sports medicine experience occurs within Mountainside Hospital’s Physical Therapy Center. A longitudinal experience within an orthopedic sports medicine center provides further exposure to the diagnosis and treatment of sports medicine injuries. Other rotation experiences include upper extremity surgery, spine surgery, sports podiatry, radiology, physical therapy, nutrition and human performance. Weekly didactic lectures and journal club are lead by faculty members, residents and fellows, as well as invited guest speakers. Fellows spend one session, per week, providing primary care to a varied panel of patients at the Family Medicine Center.
Weekly training room and game coverage occurs at Glen Ridge High School in Glen Ridge, NJ and West Essex High School in North Caldwell, NJ. This year we will provide game coverage to William Paterson University Ice Hockey team. Our program has an affiliation with NJIT to provide game coverage for soccer and basketball. |
