Family Practice - Family Practice Officer
During the second and third years, residents spent two months during each year as the Family Practice Officer (FPO). During The FPO months, the residents get to immerse themselves in the Family Practice outpatient setting and participate in the functioning of the busy family practice center. The residents spend their time splitting their days between patient care and clinical practice management. They work closely with the family practice attendings and receive intensive one-to-one precepting and guidance on their medical and behavioral science skills. When not seeing patents, the FPO is triaging patient emergency phone calls, reviewing patient laboratory and radiological results, and taking at-home beeper calls for the office.
